Temperatures will drop nearly 30 degrees in less than two hours and wet surfaces will begin to freeze quickly. In the early overnight hours, the cold front bulldozes through Ohio creating rapid changes. Then, Thursday evening, before midnight, the storm deepens enough to create very gusty winds and drives cold air all the way to the Gulf of Mexico. By comparison, Ohio remains in the warmer part of the system and sees rain for the day with temperatures in the 40s. The Upper Great Plains is expecting large amounts of snow on Thursday. The center of the storm will race across the middle of the country and become much stronger as it travels eastward. It has emerged from the Rockies and is, in general, lingering over parts of Colorado and Wyoming this afternoon. September and October will be cooler than normal, with above-normal precipitation. The hottest periods will be late July and early August. Summer will be cooler than normal, with rainfall below average in the east and above average in the west. Precipitation will average slightly below normal. April and May temperatures will be warmer than normal in the east and cooler than normal in the west. The snowiest periods will be in late December through mid-January and late January through mid-February. The coldest spells will occur in late December, early January, and late January through mid-February.
